New Features in Booked 4.0

  • by

Booked 4.0 is here and full of some exciting new features. We’ll cover the biggest ones in this post.

Event Templates

For 20 years, Booked had a single way to reserve resources – the reservation form.

Booked now supports a workflow-driven reservation process. This simple flow guides users through picking a date, an available time, providing some optional information, then confirming everything.

Event reservations can be linked to directly for quick usage from external sites or email campaigns. They can also be used as a WordPress widget when WordPress integration is configured. Users can also browse a list of events and start the flow right from the main application. They even support an integrated payment flow.

Booked can be configured to use both the schedule workflow alongside the event template workflow or configured to only use templates.

Both Reports and Reservation Management searches include options for finding all reservations made against a specific template.

New Quota Options

Cumulative Quota Rules

The first quota change is a big one. Until now, quota rules were always enforced at an individual user level. So a quota of 10 hours per week allowed each individual user to book up to 10 hours per week.

Booked now allows quota rules to be enforced cumulatively or per user group. If enforced for a group of users, then all reservations in aggregate for the users in that group would be limited to 10 hours per week. If set as cumulative without user group constraints, then all Booked users would cumulatively be limited to 10 hours per week.

Global Quotas

Instead of per resource or per schedule, quotas can now apply across all schedules. This allows simple constraints to be set across all reservations in Booked. For example, limiting each user to a total of 10 hours per week.

Quota Duplication

Many quota rules can be very similar. With a click, quota rules can now be duplicated and modified for quick and consistent quota creating.

Reservation History

All reservation changes are now tracked and available for reservation owners and application administrators to review. This is ideal for viewing how a reservation has changed over time.

And Much More

This post covers the biggest changes and new features in Booked 4.0, but there are many more smaller enhancements.

When using the Find a Time search, we’ll now save your most recent searches for quick access. You can also search for times no specific days of the week, as well.

Custom attributes now support number fields. This also helps keeping the data clean, but also allows additional filtering and searching for greater than or less than values.

The Booked API has been updated to support Blackout listing, creation, updates, and deletes. Event Templates are also available in
